What is Paintless dent repair or PDR?

Updated: Jan 10, 2022

Paintless Dent Repair (PDR), also known as Paintless Dent Removal or Paint free dent removal, is an environmentally-friendly or "eco-friendly" repair method that restores a vehicle’s body panel back to it's factory condition before the damage occurred and in a fraction of the time and in most cases a fraction of the cost. PDR can be used to remove door dings and dents large and small, motorcycle gas tank dent repair, creases and hail damage from vehicles. The paintless dent repair process involves some of these primary steps below.

1. Assess the damaged area

2. Gain an access point to the damaged area

3. Proper high-tech lighting to gain a better picture of the dented area

4. Proper dent tools to be able to massage the metal back to it's original contour and shape

Assess the damaged area

One of the first step to any PDR repair process is to assess the damage area. Where is the dent located? How big or stretched is the dent area? How do will we access to the dented area? After assessing the dented area and determining if it can be effectively removed through PDR we will then prepare the area around the dent for the repair by removing any obstacles like, taillights, or mirrors or anything that could hinder the repair process.

Gain an access point to the damaged area

In most cases when performing PDR, you are requires you to access the back side of the damaged panel, which means carefully removing vehicles interior or exterior body panels, like, tail lights, or in some cases with interior panels, the headliner or interior trim. To perform PDR, you need a way to access the dent from behind to the damaged area.

Once we have access to a dent, it is then time to perform the paintless dent repair process. This is where the Got Dents Get Fixed highly skilled and certified technicians come into play!
