The most important factors in determining if Paintless dent repair can be used as a method to repair a dent are depth and location. The dent the size of a dinner plate or larger can be fixed successfully, as long as they are not too deep and the metal is not to stretched. On the other hand, a dent that is as small as a dime that is very deep, cannot be fixed using Paintless dent removal because the metal is too stretched. Cracked paint can also be an indication that a dent is too deep or missing paint can make the dent to difficult to repair unless the customer wants us to do a push-to-paint.

The most typical dent to be fixed are the size of a golf ball, larger dents are possible. Most (about 95%) of minor dents can be repaired. About 5% of small dent repair can't be fixed due to depth or location. Areas such as some quarter panel opening lips, some forward areas of heavily braced hoods, or the very edges of some panels are examples of wrong locations in most cases.

Can paintless dent repair work on motorcycle gas tanks?

We have repaired many of motorcycle gas tanks and fenders using the paintless dent repair method. Using the PDR method is by far the best way to repair any dent in a gas tank or fender, especially if you want to keep you factory or custom paint! When doing PDR on tanks and fender, it takes a very skilled dent removal technician. The metal on some of these fuel tanks today are very strong and with the thicker paint from the custom paint jobs, it can make repairing theses gas tanks even harder. Smartpdr has state of the art PDR tools that are mad specifically for doing motorcycle paintless dent repair or MPDR.
